Ryan Herring is a retired Austin Police Lieutenant oversaw routine and peculiar police responses to complex public safety threats and events. Ryan is available to consult on limited criminal and civil cases. This includes prosecution and defense cases.

Impaired Driving Expertise

As an officer, Ryan helped modernize the Austin Police Department's DWI Unit. Ryan spent 8 years as a DWI Unit Officer and Supervisor. Concurrently, he was an SFST Instructor, Intoxilyzer Operator, Drug Recognition Expert, and one of only 53 Drug Recognition Expert Instructors in Texas for almost 12 years. Ryan has been formally certified as an expert witness in Travis County Criminal Courts and made over 700 DWI arrests. He has testified in approximately 200+ different formal court proceedings.

Ryan was routinely called by Assistant County Attorneys to review and consult on other officers' arrests.
